Meet the founder

Born in London, England and raised in Ontario, Canada, Tanya is YTT 300-hour certified and with Yoga Alliance recognition. An infectious learner, she attends workshops on an ongoing basis to enhance her classes and community work.  She values mentorship experiences, collaboration with fellow teachers, and strives to inspire her students into a deeper practice. Tanya is also level II Reiki certified (18 hours) in the Usui Holy Fire system of natural healing. Her passion on the mat is the yin part of her life. The yang can be found on the trails. A dedicated ultra-trail runner, Tanya loves the challenge of long days (and oftentimes, nights) navigating switchbacks, climbs, descents, and the mix of technical and breathtaking  landscape throughout Ontario, B.C, Vermont, and Quebec. Accomplished as well with many podium finishes over the years. She runs road marathons for "fun;" though her true bliss is trail time submersed in nature. A proud mother of two boys, correction, two fine young men. She enjoys witnessing their independence, sense of humour, curiosities, personal commitments, and sublime personalities .  She is a lover of lake walks with her dog, Dexter, a good chai latte, (always with a cookie,) sunrises and sunsets, and will always say  "YES" to field trips. Could be a lavender farm, farmer's market, local artisan fair, lake swimming, bike riding on rolling hills, hiking with glorious views, snowshoeing without windchill, sailing afternoons with her parents; let's just say her list of pure joy is a long one. Formerly a primary grade teacher in Toronto, Ontario and Menlo Park, California, her new teaching path combined with her spiritual journey  is palpably a fulfilling one.

Our time together

Hearwithheart is inclusive, supportive, and welcoming. Individuals from all walks of life can explore the healing benefits of Yin yoga or Restorative practice. Both are for everyone. Both can support a more calm, insightful, and reviving life. We are a space that offers both asanas to nurture everyone both mentally and physically and to guide all to a deeper and more peaceful part of themselves.

I look forward to our time together on our mats.

With heart, Tanya

"Tapas is a practice of putting your container, your body/mind, in a place to receive the teaching. Whether it is asana, pranayama or meditation, you take the form of the teaching."
